Music Memories # 1

When i was little my parents would listen to nothing but oldies music. Motown, Jackson five, Temptations, and a whole bunch of others. As a kid i would enjoy listening to that music but i was also affected by any music that i heard. Movies, TV, radio, and even people that would sing to themselves. I have carried that over my whole life. But when i was about 12 i started to listen to hip hop and rap. I have heard it before but i didn't know the names of the songs or the lyrics. So i then started to listen to rap while i still listened to other types of music. A key moment was when Linkin Park came out with the album Hybrid Theory. At first i didn't like rock at all until one day i was lifting weights and a Linkin park song came on. I felt pumped up and i liked that song it energized me. Ever since then i listen to linkin park as well as some other alternative rock music. My friends on the other hand are very secular in that there music is only about rap and hip hop. I used to be made fun of the music that i listen to until the day they realized that they missed out on some really good music. They would think that any music other than rap R&B or hip hop would be only for whites. And if you still listened to it you would be called a wanna be white kid. But that's why there stuck in the same area they grew up in because they didn't want to expand there music, beliefs, and become more open.
